Puzzle Description

Cat's Cookie Club (G2712)is a 250XL puzzle by Linda Jane Smith. The same puzzle is available as a regular size 500 piece puzzle: G3105. The 250XL puzzle pieces are approximately twice as big as the regular puzzles pieces. All 250XL puzzles and 500 regular piece puzzles measure the same when complete: 49 x 34 centimeters. All 100XXL in the Gibsons catalogue also measures 49 x 34 centimeters once assembled. The 100XXL puzzle pieces are therefore four times as large as regular puzzle pieces and are for those puzzle enthusiasts who prefer to work with much larger pieces.

Linda Jane's puzzles have a definite look to them, whether she's portraying cats or dogs, or both. They are delightfully rendered with the adorable creatures looking around in an almost distracted but benign fashion. Nothing seems to bother them and it looks as if, not only do they not have a care in the world but that, they are only participating in the activity without really realising that it's going on. Still, where else would they be, if not for here in this most perfect of settings.

In this instance the cats are sitting around a large kitchen table (mostly). They appear to be participating in a baking class, sort of. None of the feline participants are overly interested in baking anything, rather their energy is directed at doing as little as possible except looking around and possibly tasting whatever is in front of them. There appears to be a cat totally immersed in a large baking bowl tasting his bath. How charming. Are we now expected to eat whatever concoction is finally produced?

There are cats who are not at the table and are perfectly content to interact with one another in a very charming ambiance where even the mice aren't really too excited about the legion of gigantic cats surrounding them. I would say the mice have even adopted that same air of nonchalance and sublime atmosphere of well being in the kitchen courtesy of the resident cats.

As usual Linda Jane's cats are wonderfully painted and the colours throughout the puzzle are harmonious and varied. Such puzzles provide hours of pleasure to any puzzle enthusiast and beginning puzzler alike who may or may not own a feline pet or two.
