Bert's Bath Night (G6316) is a 1000 piece puzzle by Linda Jane Smith. Linda Jane deploys most of her skills in portraying dogs and cats in whimsical scenarios but rarely in the same picture. In this case we are treated to the antics dogs might get up to on bath night. I don't believe cats have an equivalent night as they are notoriously reluctant when it comes to having water applied in the form of the soapy warm kind.

The dogs' expressions are muted which renders the whole scene more humorous and given Linda Jane's exacting detail for dog bodies and faces we have a very unique collection of canines getting clean. Perhaps they go in the bath in shifts, who knows? The picture's colors are muted and especially the yellowish back wall of the bathroom will require all the puzzler's attention. Did you notice the signs on the back referring to that the cat 8 the dog? An unlikely circumstance. Perhaps that's where Linda Janes true sympathies lie, i.e. more with the felines. Still whatever your fancy there is no denying Linda Jane's exquisite handling of her medium in giving us the most delightfully rendered picture embracing the most subtle and warm colours imaginable.

They perform many roles for humans, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and the military, companionship, therapy, and aiding disabled people. This influence on human society has given them the sobriquet of "man's best friend."
