Just one look at the dog peering in from outside will leave no doubt in anyone's mind regarding the calamity that is unfolding: to a tidy person this is a scene of complete horror. I'm afraid our poor scribbler will have to piece together what she can from the mess left by the curious kittens. The entire undertaking is one of imminent collapse: from the books precariously balanced under one kitten to the cup of tea that is about to be upended onto the carpet below, it's like trying to deal with a two year old child: you need nerves of steel and the patience of a saint. Fortunately the exquisite desk lamp with its leaded glass sections probably has a very heavy base preventing the kittens from trashing that too. These cheeky felines are determined to enjoy themselves at any expense while poor old Chancer the dog can only look in utter disbelief on from the window.

Steve Read has a penchant for creating beautifully rendered and composed pictures using the most saturated colours that every puzzler will enjoy solving. The desk with its drawers containing all the knick knacks a writer might use will be a challenge to the occasional puzzler and give the real hobbyist pause.
