Puzzle Description

Just when you thought the jigsaw puzzle market was moving along quite nicely along comes Gibsons and their master jigsaw puzzle creator, Mike Jupp. This latest wacky offering from Mike is entitled I Love Winter (G7056) and, like Mike’s other twelve jigsaw puzzles in the Gibsons catalogue, is a 1000 piece puzzle. It measures 68 x 49 cms when complete.

Antics and characters prevail in this winter scene of hilarity and mischief. Some of the action is so bizarre that, if it weren’t for Mike’s wildly over the top rendition, might be considered ghoulish. Just look at that poor bloke who cycled onto what he thought was a solid sheet of ice only to be swallowed up under it with only a ghostly imprint of him and his bike now, sadly under the ice. He was probably going way too fast flying down the hill to stop whereas the old gentleman in the four wheeled scooter was perhaps going a touch to slow and he must have come to a grinding halt and, unfortunately froze. As if to add insult to injury he is now being given a ticket by the local constables for some kind of traffic infraction – travelling below the ice speed limit?

It’s so cold there are a couple of woolly mammoths tramping through the snow in the distant hills and loving every minute of it. Where did they escape from? The Canada geese are leaving in great honking flocks. They just dropped in from a Canadian winter and didn’t expect this type of chilly reception in usually temperate England.

Fortunately, the leather clad motor cyclist who has just been ejected from his motor cycle in the lower left hand section of the puzzle due the treacherous road conditions won’t end up like our unfortunate cyclist. He’ll just get a few bumps and bruises and be able to retrieve his motor bike from on top of the ice and most probably eventually be on his way. The line of people in the lower centre of the puzzle is slowly starting to freeze. You can even see their breath. What is the red faced gentleman worrying about? Does he only now realise that his little habit isn’t invisible anymore? It looks as if the lady in front of him is up to his tricks. How embarrassing.

The rather imposing woman wearing a fur coat and a red Russian winter hat and winter boots hat appears completely unmoved by all the commotion around. She probably hails from a climate where this type of weather is perfectly normal.

Naturally kids and winter weather are a made for each other. They just can’t wait to get out to slide, skate and ski their way across this winter wonderland. Nevertheless not everyone is a winter specialist no matter how hard they may try. The avid amateur skier in the lower right of the puzzle is about to come a cropper as he appears to have lost a boot which is attached to a ski and is off on another direction. He also might have worn appropriate clothing. I’m not sure we all need to see his backside in such splendid pinkness.

Dogs sit on the ice in wonderment and gulls, swans and ducks are screeching as they fly away because they can only get a hard and slippery landing on the ice.

It appears that on the far side of the bank the making of a giant snowball has gotten way out of hand. There are legs and arms and heads sticking out of the giant rolling snowball as it rolls more and more quickly towards that very hard ice. Ouch!

Britain’s premier cartoon illustrator, Mike Jupp, continues to delight jigsaw puzzle fans year after year and his ‘I Love’ range cannot fail to amuse both young and old. I Love Winter is Mike Jupp’s thirteenth instalment in the range and is full of Mike’s hilarious capacity to capture the funny and peculiar side of everyday life. The bedlam of the winter season is shown in this jam packed puzzle, where snow ball fights get a little out of hand and the ice makes the roads chaotic!

Like all Gibsons jigsaw puzzles this one is made of recycled high density premium cardboard ensuring a perfect fit time and time again.
