Meeting the Neighbours - by Michael Herring 1000 Piece Puzzles - 685mm x 490mm Box Dimensions - 305mm x 305mm x 50mmMichael David Herring was born in 1944 in an area of Hertfordshire when the woods and fields were still unspoiled by urban development. This environment, together with time spent on his Grandparents farm, gave him an enduring love of the English countryside. He moved to Norfolk in 2001 as he always wanted to live and work in this lovely part of the country and from which his parents originally came. His paintings recapture the traditional values of rural England where the rhythm of the seasons come and go as they have always done. Working from sketches, photographs and the memories of his childhood, his paintings combine atmosphere and detailed observation with a mastery of the medium of oil-painting. He turned to painting professionally in 1985 and had one-man shows in 1986 and 1987 with Century Galleries whilst also taking part in mixed exhibitions throughout the country. Understandably, his main interests are still in the countryside and in particular in farming, shooting, wildlife and canine subjects, where his passion for painting continues to reside. Michael has been a rock solid contributor to the Gibsons puzzle catalog throughout the years.
