Harvest Time - by Kevin Walsh1000 Piece cardboard jigsaw puzzle - 685mm x 490mm Box Dimensions - 305mm x 305mm x 50mm Unlike other Kevin Walsh jigsaw puzzles, Harvest Time, (1000 Piece Puzzles) does not rely primarily on the accurate technical observation of vehicles manufactured by British automobile factories after World War II. Kevin's jigsaw puzzle trademarks include faithful reproductions of not only uniquely British pastimes such as cricket on the common but also depict in remarkable detail the various models and colours of the MG and Morris Minor brands of automobile. Harvest Time describes the setting of several generations of relatives at work and play on the farm during the harvest period in the 1950's. What appears to be a large extended family cooperates with the aid of both machines and animals in a bucolic atmosphere of well being between man and nature encapsulated in this pleasant and harmless fiction. The ever present manor house sits quietly in the background of the jigsaw puzzle and obviously raises the question as to the whereabouts of the owners. Kevin's gentle social commentary addresses the possibility that this jigsaw puzzle grouping are in facTêtenant farmers who do not own the land they farm but toil for the ultimate benefit of the landowner. Kevin Walsh was born in Casterford in the heart of the former industrial West Riging of Yorkshire and is proud to hail from the town which produced the world-famous sculptor Henry Moore. Kevin studied illustration at the Wakefield College of Art and developed an early reputation for his aircraft paintings. He became a member of the Guild of Aviation Artists. In recent years, he has become increasingly known for a much wider variety of subjects in his jigsaw puzzles, including landscapes, hunting scenes, transport, and city life in bygone days. He has several 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles in the Gibsons puzzle catalogue. Kevin travels many miles to research his paintings and spends countless hours sketching to capture technical and historical detail accurately. Leading publishers in Britain and overseas have commissioned his work not only for jigsaw puzzles but also for greeting cards, collectors' plates, biscuit tins, prints and calendars. Original oils by Kevin Walsh can be seen at the Headrow Gallery, Leeds, and at the William Sission Gallery in Helmsley, New York.
