Puzzle Description

Boat Float (G2213) is a puzzle by John Gillo. John has other puzzles in the Gibsons jigsaw puzzle catalogue including Christmas Moon which is a 1000 piece puzzle. This 100 XXL puzzle when assembled is about the same size as a regular 500 piece puzzle and is made for those who prefer to work with very large pieces. The puzzle pieces, although large, are basically the same design as the smaller piece puzzles. Who says puzzling can't be fun for everyone?

It would appear John has a penchant for painting seaside villages that are quaint, if a little lopsided. Houses, especially those in the distance, tend to be built on very improbable angles which, although not somewhere you might choose to live, nevertheless add a distinct and quirky charm to jigsaw.

The sea front which is totally jammed with all manner of architectural styles and colours is obviously based on an amalgam of structures found at so many seaside villages that have mostly, in the UK at least, found success as tourist destinations. These villages were, once upon a time, thriving commercial fishing centres and would have had fish and contraband pass through the locations. It's not hard to imagine Long John Silver and his fake parrot and equally fake wooden leg shuffling up and down the cobble streets looking for Jim to help him carry out some nefarious deed.

As you can see the small craft in the water are pleasure boats. Ne'er a galleon among them! Amazingly, property prices in these seaside villages has skyrocketed over the past decade or so which reflects the prices for housing in, primarily, London. The well heeled London set in its quest to escape the metropolis have been buying up seaside properties in vast quantities, especially at unlikely places such as Brighton and East Wittering. Great tracts of Cornwall seaside has become astronomically expensive, even for the most modest of dwellings. The average house price in Alderburgh, Suffolk has had house prices increasing by 1700 pounds per month throughout the last decade.

Seaside communities want to protect their environments and pass bye laws prohibiting the building of new homes that might block the sea view.
