Lawrie Taylor was a young boy when his interest in art began to develop. He grew up in Darlington where most boys were encouraged to take up apprenticeships in engineering and allied trades.
However, encouraged by his Uncle, Lawrie attended art school and then worked in a commercial art studio, before branching out as a freelance artist.
Lawrie works in gouache and watercolor and his paintings and illustrations have been much in demand by publishers, including children's books, health and cookery books, cartoons, and jigsaw puzzles.
