Josephine Wall

Josephine Wall is primarily a painter of romantic fantasies

Josephine Wall describes her art as an all-consuming obsession and a love of colour and form. She was only four years of age when the urge to paint first gripped her. Ever since, it has been a race against time to reproduce the hundreds of images that fill her mind and if she is away from her easel too long, she becomes restless and anxious to paint again.

Throughout her career, Josephine has sought to produce images which are not only pleasing to the eye, but also have either a message or a thought-provoking statement within. Hence many of her paintings contain scenes from nature, the preservation of which is close to her heart.

Although Josephine Wall's paintings are fantasies, they are based on close observation and sketching from nature. She has been influenced and inspired by the illustrative talents of Arthur Rackham, the surrealism of artists such as Magritte, and the romanticism of the pre-Raphaelites, which combined with her own imaginative ideas have lead ot a wide and varied range of work.

Josephine lives with her huband and family in the peace and tranquility of the county of Dorset.
